Etihad Airways launches luxury Coach Connections

Travel News Asia 22 March 2004

Etihad Airways has announced that complimentary ground transportation from Dubai and the Northern Emirates to Abu Dhabi Airport is now available to all passengers booked on the airline.

As a result, Etihad guests flying in Coral Zone will now be able to begin and end their journeys in Dubai, via connecting luxury coach service. Etihad also offers door-to-door pickup service by limousine to guests travelling in the airline’s Diamond and Pearl zones.

Dr. Ahmed Bin Saif Al Nayhan, chairman of Etihad, says the new service is part of Etihad’s goal to move the new airline away from traditional airline operations and bring new levels of comfort and value to the air travel experience.

He said: “We are determined to offer a superior product that meets or exceeds the expectations of our guests and one of our prime objectives is to provide a worry-free, travel experience.

“Our Coral zone guests beginning or ending their journeys in Dubai and the Northern Emirates will enjoy easier access to the airport in Abu Dhabi and can travel in comfort without the worry of making connections. Our luxury coach service is the latest part of the complete and seamless Etihad experience.”

Guests will be able to board luxury Volvo coaches from the new Etihad Airways office on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, to connect with all Etihad flights arriving and departing from Abu Dhabi airport. The connecting service to Al Ain is scheduled to begin on April 2.

Etihad Airways began operations from Abu Dhabi in November 2003 and the airline launched its first route outside the Middle East on March 2, 2004, with the start of the thrice-weekly Colombo service. This is the fourth destination for the Abu Dhabi-based airline, which should see a total of 16 new destinations by the end of 2004. These include London and Bangkok on March 28 and April 2 respectively.
