Emirates welcomes new Senior Vice-President for Asia Pacific

Travel News Asia 22 January 2004

Emirates has announced a corporate restructure which will see Richard Vaughan take the position of Senior Vice-President for East Asia and Australasia. Mr Vaughan will replace Mr Keith Longstaff. Mr Longstaff moves to a new appointment as Senior Vice-President Europe, after holding responsibility for an area including the Indian Subcontinent, Pacific Rim and Australasia since 1996.

Mr Vaughan brings a wealth of experience to Emirates. Since 1987 he held the position of General Manager with Concorde International Travel for Western Australia. Prior to Concorde International Travel, Mr Vaughan operated his own GSA/Consolidation business, and spent more than 19 years working for Gulf Air and British Airways.

As Senior Vice President for East Asia and Australasia, Mr Vaughan will be responsible for Emirates' operations in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand and various offline offices within the region.

The area previously managed by Mr Longstaff - stretching from the Indian Subcontinent right through to New Zealand - has also been split in the restructure, with Mr Vaughan taking over the Pacific Rim and Australasia regions.

The restructure, including a variety of new appointments worldwide, is a result of Emirates expansion throughout the globe and in particular the East Asia and Australasia region, which has recently included direct Sydney-Dubai flights on the new long-haul Airbus A340-500 aircraft.

Mr Longstaff has accepted his new position as Senior Vice-President, Europe, which is also based in Dubai.
