Interior Design Concept Unveiled for The Regent Bal Harbour

Travel News Asia 21 December 2004

The Regent Bal Harbour, a luxury condominium hotel, and its residential condominium component, The Regent Residences at One Bal Harbour, is aiming to be the premier address for sophisticated leisure and business travelers in South Florida when completed in late 2006.

Culpepper, McAuliffe and Meaders, Inc., (CMMI), an Atlanta-based international design firm, is providing planning and interior design services for the 18-story condominium hotel, and interior design for public amenity spaces in the condominiums. The South Florida architectural firm of Nichols, Brosch, Sandoval & Associates is designing the “moderne” hotel structure that will have a striking curvilinear façade with glass exteriors. Two side wings of the building dramatically intersect a 26-story tower.

The interior design will create an elegant, tranquil oasis where guests and owners can hide away and be pampered in an ultra-luxury setting with views of the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Miami to the south and Haulover Park to the north.

“The hotel was designed to be warm and inviting, with a tailored, contemporary residential feel and timeless elegance that creates a memorable experience,” said Jim Culpepper, AIA, design principal, CMMI. “All the spaces are designed to echo the dramatic architecture and relate with the panoramic views.”

Throughout the hotel, architectural elements, millwork and lighting features are simply detailed to work with the contemporary architecture of the building. This elegant setting acts as a backdrop for the custom-designed furniture and international artwork, thereby creating a cohesive and integrated design. The materials are textural and seductive, and the color palate is soothing and rich, with splashes of color for accent.

Each guestroom suite has a custom-designed private elevator featuring wood floors and a foyer with leather walls and custom artwork. All guestrooms have six-fixture bathrooms, including a free-standing tub -- either overlooking the ocean or Intracoastal Waterway.

Guests will be welcomed to the 22-foot double-story hotel lobby with views of the ocean and a visual connection to the gourmet signature bar and restaurant. L’Institut de Guerlain, a world-class spa on the pool level, features Ensuite bathrooms in each treatment room.

“CCMI has created a sophisticated design for The Regent Bal Harbour by focusing on the interior architecture and décor in key feature elements,” said Tom Trout, vice president of planning and design for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, parent organization for Regent International Hotels. “This technique is a reflection of the firm’s years of expertise designing five-star hotels. The result is that each area has a unique element that makes this the premier project in quality and design in South Florida, appealing to the sophisticated leisure and business traveler alike.”
