Travel News Asia 20 August 2004

An alliance of travel agents, airlines, tourism boards and a payment card company have come together to launch the ‘Best of Australia’ campaign in Singapore.

This new campaign offers flexible and affordable travel packages to attract Singaporeans to enjoy the best destinations that Australia has to offer between now and the end of the year.

Special land packages have been developed to suit all needs and interests from groups of friends or families to adventure seekers or gourmet lovers. The land packages are only valid with a Qantas and British Airways air ticket Down Under and must be paid for on a VISA card.

‘Best of Australia’ brings together the largest ever travel alliance in Singapore, and includes 16 travel agents, Qantas and British Airways, Northern Territory Tourist Commission, Tourism Queensland, Tourism New South Wales, Tourism Tasmania, Tourism Victoria, South Australian Tourism Commission, Tourism Western Australia and Visa International.

“Qantas and British Airways are delighted to be part of the ‘Best of Australia’ Campaign and the largest ever travel alliance in Singapore,” said Stephen Limbrick, regional general manager for Qantas and British Airways South East Asia. “Working together means we can offer a huge variety of options so everyone can experience the best that Australia has to offer. Qantas and British Airways offer more seats to more Australian cities than any other network making us the perfect airline partner.”

The land packages start from S$428 per person and include accommodation and land transportation. The key package, Best of City and Country, allows travelers to enjoy the cities of Darwin, Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide and Perth, and includes two nights in the city and two nights in the country using a variety of accommodation styles, car hire or coach tours. In addition to the key packages, each Australian State is featuring packages unique to their State.

All packages are only valid with an air ticket Down Under from Qantas and British Airways and are exclusive for VISA card-holders. Those booking before 3 September 2004 will get a free domestic flight or S$140 discount per couple on Qantas and British Airways airfares, as well as a free car upgrade in addition to various perks offered by individual States.
