Radisson SAS Hotel London Stansted Airport open for business

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, the first class, full service brand of Rezidor SAS Hospitality, has opened its 10th hotel in the UK, the Radisson SAS Hotel London Stansted Airport. The new hotel is located just a two minute walk from the terminal of the UK’s fastest growing airport.

During last week’s grand opening ceremony, the hotel unveiled an innovative thirteen-metre high ’wine tower’ which stands in the main foyer. The first of its kind in Europe, the Stansted tower houses more than 4000 bottles of wine and is truly a sight to behold.

Guests are served by ’wine angels’ who are transported via a high-speed computer controlled winch system up and down the tower to retrieve chosen bottles of wine before delivering them safely to the tables, providing a constantly moving backdrop to the light and airy space.

The 500 bedrooms at the Radisson SAS Hotel Stansted Airport are designed in three styles - Chilli, Ocean and Urban - providing a choice of accommodation to suit travellers’ preferences. Individual touches are introduced to each of the rooms creating a personable atmosphere distinctly different from traditional airport hotels. Chilli is fiery and vibrant with striking, sensual red furniture and dark wood; Ocean reflects the calm of the sea with blues and jade greens whilst Urban features acid brights with quirky furniture.

Three individually designed Ackerman restaurants provide a wide choice of food from stone-baked pizza in Filini’s to oysters and authentic juicy burgers in the New York Bar and Grill and traditional tapas in TaPaell’Ya.

Meeting facilities take up 1,300m of space in the hotel. Each of the 26 meeting rooms boast state-of-the-art technology including wireless LAN and video conferencing. All make the most of the natural light with floor to ceiling windows including the largest, the Essex Room, that can accommodate a residential conference of up to 300 people.

For tired travellers looking to unwind before or after a flight the PACE health club features an indoor swimming pool, gym, steam room and sauna, plus spa treatment rooms for massages and beauty treatments.
