Galaxy signs agreement with Alliance Reservations Network

Travel News Asia 19 July 2004

Galaxy Distribution System, specialising in on-line global travel distribution systems for ground services, has signed an agreement with Alliance Reservations Network (ARN) for the purpose of enhancing the host-to-host interfacing capabilities of its own global travel distribution system (TDS) with Suppliers and Distributors, and to gain access in the process to additional inventory for over 30,000 properties already connecting and trading through ARN's switch solution.

Alliance Reservations Network (ARN), established in 1995 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, provides technology, products and services connecting and empowering travel Distributors with the ability to electronically transact seamless business with travel Suppliers worldwide and on a real-time basis.

The agreement is a major development in Galaxy's strategy to accelerate its global growth both at the Supplier and the Distributor ends.

"Through this agreement, the ARN application will be integrated in the Galaxy TDS distribution model, and will provide Galaxy and its clients with instant access to a ready made host-to-host connectivity solution which will allow Suppliers to connect their existing systems with Galaxy TDS to maximise their distribution potential," said Mr Marco Gorin, Galaxy's Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing.

"This will lead to substantial growth in Galaxy TDS inventory, which in turn will lead to growth in the number of Retail Travel Agents using Galaxy TDS," Gorin added.

"This breakthrough will present clear advantages, including higher revenue for both Galaxy and its associates while providing existing and future TDS Suppliers and Distributors with a simple, standardised, host-to-host connectivity solution," concluded Gorin.

According to Mr Todd Eden, Vice President Business Development, ARN, "We are pleased to be associated with Galaxy, which is proving to be a significant player in the on-line global travel distribution industry, and which continues to demonstrate leadership in the ground services segment," said Eden.

"There is a great level of synergy between ARN and Galaxy that bridges the gap between Suppliers and Distributors and we intend to reach its full potential in the shortest possible time," concluded Eden.
