Virgin Blue to launch direct flights between Coffs Harbour and Melbourne

Travel News Asia 17 September 2004

Virgin Blue is to begin direct flights between Coffs Harbour and Melbourne.

The new weekly flight will operate every Saturday and will be the second Virgin Blue flight option in and out of Coffs Harbour, complimenting the original Coffs Harbour-Sydney services that were launched just over two years ago.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said “Coffs Harbour was our first regional New South Wales city and it is safe to say we are very happy with the large number of people choosing to fly with us between the two destinations be it for business or leisure.”

He continued, “We have long held the view that smaller communities deserve the opportunity to have a jet service operating into the region and are fully capable of supporting a larger aircraft. This has well and truly proven to be the case in Coffs Harbour and additional services, such as the new Melbourne flight, are a direct result of strong and steady support.”

A special launch fare of A$99 one-way on the net is up for grabs from now until 26 September 2004, for travel between 6 November and 11 December 2004. Everyday low fares will start from A$149 one way on the net.
