Deloitte and Smith Travel Research launch HotelBenchmark Trend Reports

Travel News Asia 16 March 2004

Deloitte, a market leader in hotel performance metrics outside North America and Smith Travel Research (STR), a recognized leader for US lodging industry benchmarking, have announced the launch of HotelBenchmark Trend Reports, which were unveiled today at the 7th International Hotel Investment Forum.

This is the first joint benchmarking analysis to be developed through the alliance of Deloitte and STR and a ‘first of its kind’ in performance reporting for the global hotel industry.

HotelBenchmark Trend Reports permit unprecedented access to global hotel performance trends, providing exceptional market coverage of over 1.2 million hotel rooms. The reports provide historical performance data spanning five years, incorporating occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), revenue per available room (revPAR), percentage change and 12-month moving averages. Whether a hotel owner, operator, broker or developer, HotelBenchmark Trend Reports provide an invaluable insight into the performance trends of specific hotel markets or a selection of hotels.

Designed to provide clients with tailored and timely data, the reports can be customised to suit specific requirements and ordered easily through a variety of means. As well as being versatile, the reports are concise, user friendly and are provided in Excel format for convenience.

Commenting on the launch Julia Felton, Executive Director of HotelBenchmark at Deloitte said, “We are delighted to introduce HotelBenchmark Trend Reports to the global hotel industry. Deloitte has always been at the forefront of providing innovative and unique benchmarking solutions to the industry and we are pleased to be able to continue that trend.”

“STR’s Historical Trends have provided keen insights to North America’s lodging industry professionals for many years. We are very pleased to be working with HotelBenchmark and to now provide accurate, actionable, historical performance data to the world’s lodging community.” added Mark Lomanno, President of Smith Travel Research.
