Swisstel Hotels & Resorts launches Children's Rooms concept

Travel News Asia 14 May 2004

Swisstel Hotels & Resorts first launched its specially designed rooms for children at the Swisstel The Bosphorus in Istanbul at the beginning of the year, and is now planning to roll out these rooms to its other hotels worldwide within the year. The prototype children's room at the hotel is tailored to the needs of little guests between the ages of two and eight years old.

Called Designed for Kids by Swisstel Hotels & Resorts, the special room is fitted with child-friendly materials and furnishings and features a play corner with sufficient space to romp. Little guests can sleep in "car beds" and will find playtime more fun with desks designed and measured for kids. Apart from the large selection of toys available in the room, there is also a special menu of  carefully selected DVD programmes. Each Designed for Kids room is connected to the parents' room.

Mr. Meinhard Huck, Managing Director of Swisstel Hotels & Resorts, said, "Children have different needs from those of adults when travelling on holiday. I have a young daughter and I am able to appreciate staying at a child-friendly hotel. When my daughter is comfortable and happy at a hotel, my wife and I can enjoy our stay better."

The Designed for Kids concept was inspired by the success and popularity of special baby facilities launched at all Swisstels in Europe a year ago.

Baby-friendly features at Swisstel Hotels & Resorts

Swisstel Hotels & Resorts offer guests with babies standard features to lighten the parents' load when they travel. For example, a baby cot with bed linen, a little bathrobe and a cuddly toy is readily available in the room. There are also children beach shoes, nappies, face cloths, baby amenities such as shampoo, soap and baby lotion, a bottle warmer and a baby bottle available in the room. In addition, the bathroom is equipped with a baby bath, a water thermometer and a rubber duck.

Children's books, drawing pads, crayons and felt-tips are available upon request at the hotel. Appropriate children seats are also available in the restaurants and baby-sitters can be provided at any time on request.
