Priceless® Platinum Experiences from MasterCard in Western Australia's Premier Wine Region

Travel News Asia 13 July 2004

MasterCard International today announced an exclusive new offer for MasterCard Platinum cardholders to taste and experience the best of Western Australia's famous Margaret River wine district.

The three-day packaged tour, operated by Wine Travel Group based in Margaret River, will take Platinum MasterCard cardholders to premier vineyards, including the renowned Leeuwin Estate, Evans & Tate and Capel Vale wineries, to sample award-winning wines and gourmet fare at top restaurants in the district. It will also enable them to enjoy exclusive spa packages, play an 18-hole round of golf and catch some tourist sights.

The package includes two nights' accommodation in a Garden Spa Suite at Cape Lodge, one of Australia's finest boutique hotels, well noted for its luxurious privacy. With its 22 beautifully appointed rooms, Cape Lodge is the only property in Western Australia listed in the prestigious "Small Luxury Hotels of the World" portfolio. The hotel sits on its own vineyard within 10 hectares of forest, parkland, gardens and lakes.

The new Platinum MasterCard offer supports the ongoing collaboration between MasterCard and the Western Australia Tourism Commission, formalized through a strategic marketing alliance in May this year.

"This package is part of our continuing commitment to bring exceptional value-added services to the MasterCard Platinum Collection. At MasterCard, we understand that our Platinum cardholders prefer meaningful experiences to discounts, and that's what the MasterCard Platinum Collection delivers. I believe our Platinum MasterCard cardholders will be excited about this program," said Stuart McDonald, senior vice president, Regional Business Development, Asia/Pacific, MasterCard.

Located three hours south of Perth, Margaret River is one of Australia's leading premium wine regions. Coupled with ancient forests, magnificent caves, abundant wildflowers, pristine beaches, great surf and a flourishing gourmet food and wine industry, Margaret River has fast become an upmarket region for people who enjoy the best things in life. With over 100 wineries with cellar doors for tasting and 20 winery restaurants serving regional culinary delights, Margaret River produces 25 percent of Australia's premium wine.

Platinum MasterCard cardholders will also receive handmade chocolates on arrival, free membership to the Margaret River Wine Club, 10% discount on case purchases from the Margaret River Wine Club, a $30 wine voucher with dinner at Cape Lodge, a twin pack of Cape Lodge Estate grown wines and afternoon tea served by the drawing room open fire on arrival.
