Travel News Asia 11 February 2004

With the summer school holidays coming up between March and May, the Tourism  Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joined forces with the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) to organise the Consumer Travel Fair which will run from 4 to 7 March, 2004, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC).

To be open from 10.30 hrs – 21.00 hrs, the  Fair will showcase a broad range of holiday products and services from Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries, including tour operators, hotels and resorts, transportation and other tourism related businesses.

TAT Governor Mrs. Juthamas Siriwan said, “The fair is aimed at promoting domestic travel, so that consumers can take advantage of the many attractive deals and promotional offered during these events.

“TAT will also use it to present our marketing plans and campaigns like Unseen Paradise and our latest campaign to promote travel during weekdays instead of weekends.”

Mrs. Juthamas said the annual fair has proven popular among consumers, the trade as well as organisers of corporate incentives, meetings and conferences in Thailand.

To promote business-to-business contacts, some special areas have been set aside only for business meetings with various members of the private sector.

Mrs. Juthamas said she was pleased to see the Thai military also participating with a range of products related to adventure and ecotours. Other government organisations exhibiting are the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the National Parks Division of the Forestry Department.

Exhibiting sellers have paid 12,000 baht for booths of 9 sq metres (space only); 15,000 baht for the same area plus furniture, and an additional 2,000 baht for booths at the aisle intersections.
