Chiva-Som launches Mind-Body Stress Release

Travel News Asia 1 November 2004

Chiva-Som International Health Resort continues to live up to its reputation as Asias pioneer in luxury wellness, with the introduction of a unique anti-stress treatment integrating touch therapy and mental relaxation.

Thought to be one of the first of its kind in the world, Chiva-Soms Mind-Body Stress Release is an ingenious combination of massage carefully choreographed to a guided relaxation soundtrack.

The treatment was designed specifically for todays highly stressed executive who enjoys massage but finds it difficult to relax as his or her mind keeps racing, thereby negating many of the massage benefits. By actively engaging the mind and consciously leading it into a state of deep relaxation, the perfect complement of mind and body relaxation is achieved.

Thoughtful attention to detail ensures that every sense is recruited to support the relaxation process: the aroma of pure lavender, the soft glow of blue candles, the comforting warmth of freshly laundered towels, and the gentle sounds of the ocean.

The calming soundtrack has been written and recorded exclusively for Chiva-Som by hypnotherapist Karen Braddock, to complement the health resorts beachside location. Braddock worked with Chiva-Soms team of therapists to ensure close coordination between the words and massage.

The massage itself is also rather unique, using a variety of techniques to target different aspects of physical and mental relaxation. Light feathery touches heighten the senses; smooth flowing strokes soothe the nerves; rhythmic kneading releases tight muscles, while gentle rocking and stretching eases out the last vestiges of physical tension.

The Mind Body Stress Release treatment lasts for 55 minutes and is priced at 3,500 Baht (USD86.00), subject to 17.7% service charge and VAT.
