South Korea’s Shilla Jeju joins The Leading Hotels of the World

Travel News Asia 1 November 2004

The 5-star Shilla Jeju resort in South Korea has become a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

The Shilla Jeju joins its sister hotel, The Shilla Seoul, as one of only three hotels in South Korea accepted into the organization of 400 of some of the world’s finest luxury hotels.

Hotels admitted to The Leading Hotels of the World must complete a rigorous inspection which only the most eminent hotels can pass.

The resort’s admittance follows a substantial upgrade to the resort, including the introduction of the first Guerlain Spa in Asia. The leading French luxury brand will open a second Guerlain Spa later this year at the company’s flagship hotel, The Shilla Seoul.

The Shilla Jeju’s General Manager, Mr. Younyun Kim, said: “We have invested a great deal elevating the resort to world-class standards and admittance to The Leading Hotels of the World demonstrates the successful achievement of our ambition.”

The resort enjoys one of the most spectacular settings on the island in the prestigious Jungmun Tourist Resort Complex - amid palm trees and lush, landscaped gardens on a cliff top overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

To the north lie the slopes of Mount Halla volcano and the rolling greens of Jungmun golf course, an 18-hole championship course hosting major international events.

Besides being a symbol of recognition of the high standards of service and facilities, membership of The Leading Hotels of the World will also allow the resort to benefit from the organization’s extensive global marketing and distribution network.
