Double Miles from China Southern Airlines and Sanya Marriott Resort and Spa

Travel News Asia 1 October 2004

China Southern Airlines and its Sky Pearl Club frequent flyer partner Marriott International have announced that through October 30, Sky Pearl Club members can earn double FFP miles for every qualified stay at the new Sanya Marriott Resort & Spa.

Mr. Li Kun, Vice President, China Southern Airlines, said that the new property, recently opened in August this year, “is the first Marriott managed resort to open in China and we are pleased to have this ultra-luxurious property as part of the China Southern Airlines’ Sky Pearl Club, the largest frequent flyer program in China.”

The airline said that its Sky Pearl Club has more than 2 Million members and is growing at a rate of more than 700 new FFP members each day.

“Marriott International values our partnership with China Southern and the ability to extend special offers to Sky Pearl members in China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Speaking to members of the largest frequent flyer program in China and by providing them with added value when staying at a Marriott International brand further solidifies our respective marketing efforts and gains greater loyalty from these travelers. Now is the time for the business and leisure travelers to resume a normal life … get out and see Asia, experience the allure of China and reinforce those business relationships face to face. We’re delighted to work with China Southern on this summer promotion” said Mr. Kent Maury, Regional Vice President of Marriott International in Asia Pacific.

Located on the southern tip of Hainan Island, at approximately the same latitude as Hawaii, Sanya is the only tropical island in China. The city is served by the Phoenix International Airport, which connects China Southern Airlines flights to all major domestic Chinese cities as well as to such International destinations as Seoul and Hong Kong. The Sanya Marriott Resort & Spa is perfectly situated along the shores of the South China Sea on an exquisite stretch of white sand beach.

Recreational amenities include a health and fitness center with sauna/steam room and massage service, three swimming pools, two tennis courts and the 18 hole Yalong Bay Golf Club. The resort also features a relaxing Marriott spa with outdoor pavilions amongst lush gardens facing the South China Sea.
