Kempinski San Lawrenz expands spa facilities and treatments

Travel News Asia 10 February 2004

The Kempinski San Lawrenz Resort & Spa on the island of Gozo already operates some of the most extensive spa facilities in the Mediterranean, offering both Ayurveda and Marine Cure treatments.

After extending the facilities further this year, there are now 31 treatment rooms and the Ayurvedic Centre is one of the largest authentic practices in Europe, with a resident doctor and team of therapists. The Centre also now offers Chavitti Thirummu - a very special form of Kalari massage, which helps the body to relax, purify and rejuvenate.

During Chavitti Thirummu, the masseur, who hangs from a rope and gives an intensive massage with his feet, can correct the alignment of the body as an osteopath or chiropractor does. Such skill and precision requires many years of training.

Ayurveda originates from Kerala, where the naturally verdant forests and hilly tracts have nurtured an abundance of herbs, creepers, plants and trees which are extremely valuable in the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines.
