Gulf Air appoints new General Manager in Kuwait

Gulf Air has appointed Mr. Houssam Weiss as General Manager for Kuwait.

With an excellent track record of successfully driving profitability and load factors in key markets, Houssam focus in Kuwait will be developing Gulf Air as the airline of choice, particularly for business travellers.

“With responsibility for all aspects of our operation in Kuwait, Houssam’s appointment comes at an exciting time, given the dynamic initiatives that are underway to meet the challenges of today’s competitive climate,” said John Butler, Vice President Marketing and Sales at Gulf Air. “Houssam’s strong sales background coupled with considerable international experience will play a vital role in meeting these challenges as we move forward to achieve our objective of repositioning Gulf Air as a commercially viable world class airline."

Mr. Weiss has moved from the Gulf Air London office where he was a Key Account Manager responsible for building and maintaining key accounts in the leisure, business, diplomatic, marine and off-shore sectors. He played an integral role in increasing traffic and revenue from the UK to the Gulf and promoting Abu Dhabi as a gateway to Dubai. He was particularly successful in turning around the marine and offshore sector and growing the revenue by more than 600 per cent. Prior to joining Gulf Air he held managerial positions in SwissAir based both in Abu Dhabi and London.

Houssam’s career in the international travel market spans more than ten years. He brings a wealth of experience in sales, marketing, customer service and management to the Kuwait office.
