'Bali Rediscovered' through the Lens of 15 International Photographers

Fifteen internationally renowned photographers from England, Japan, Australia, USA and Indonesia arrived recently in Bali to undertake a 10 day photographic shoot for a major new photo book "Bali Rediscovered" to be published in early December 2003 and distributed internationally.

Local and international photographers will be assisted by Indonesian photography and design students from Udayana University and Sekolah Tinggi Seni. There will be an estimated 60,000 photographs taken of which the best 260 will be featured in "Bali Rediscovered". The photographers include talent as diverse as Rupert Hanbury Tenison (UK), Rama Surya (Ina), Martin Westlake (UK), Grenville Turner (Aus), Rio Helmi (Ina), Tim Rock (USA) and Rico Nose (Japan).

The book will cover all aspects of Balinese life with teams traveling throughout the island to capture the essence of Balinese daily life, its landscapes, culture, ceremonies, temples and people. Commissioning editor, Dr. Lawrence Blair, author of "Ring of Fire" and noted anthropologist, Creative Director Leonard Lueras author of 23 books on Asia, Peter Greenberg, best selling author of "The Travel Detective" and NBC News Travel Correspondent, plus noted Bali based writers will contribute to this project.

Charles Orchard, the Publisher of "Bali Rediscovered" said, "We are very fortunate to have such an impressive team of well known international photographers on location in Bali and the writing talent to accompany their images". 

The project is endorsed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Bali Governor's office, and sponsored by major Indonesian and international corporations.
