Travel News Asia 8 December 2003

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) today announced the promotion of Mr Daniel Oertli to CWT Director, IT - Asia Pacific. Effective immediately, Oertli will oversee all IT development and operations for CWT Asia Pacific. Based in Sydney, Australia, he will report jointly to Mr Geoffrey Marshall, President - Asia Pacific and Latin America and to Mr Loren Brown, Global Chief Information Officer.

Upon announcing the appointment, Mr Brown stated, "Over the past few years, CWT has successfully grown its market share in the Asia Pacific region. The continued growth of Asia Pacific requires that we strengthen the presence and capabilities of the IT organisation with a dedicated focus within these regions. Oertli's promotion will help us to align more effectively as we prepare for further growth ahead."

Brown went on to say that, "Oertli's appointment will greatly support CWT's commitment to developing technology to help companies manage their travel programmes and CWT's IT products such as CWT Connect and CWT Discovery E-Reporting that have been introduced in the Asia Pacific region."

Oertli joined the CWT management team in 2003 to implement and manage a strategic Information Technology and e-commerce plan for CWT in Australia. With a strong background in IT and business management, he brings over 10 years of travel industry experience to CWT.

Previously a principal of his own consultancy practice, Oertli's prior work includes senior executive positions in a variety of multi-regional roles focused on e-business enablement and IT strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Science and Philosophy.

"Oertli's strong technical skills and travel industry experience, combined with his leadership skills make him the ideal person for this position," concluded Brown.
