The St. Regis Shanghai develops Ladies Program to Pamper Female Guests

Travel News Asia 8 October 2003

The St. Regis Shanghai is to open a ladies-only floor in response to an increased demand from female travelers for safer and more female-friendly accommodation.

After an extensive research into guests needs, The St. Regis Shanghai will offer additional amenities and services to female travelers including related magazines, potpourri, silk hangers, greater choice of flowers in-room, hair clip, hair brush, hand cleanser, Bvlgari body lotion, Bvlgari perfume, facial spray, hair gel, nail polish remover and lots more both in guestrooms and through the St. Regis butler service.

In addition, female guests can request for female butlers to do room check-in and attend to their needs during their stay. The butlers can also help maintain a round-the-clock watch on in-house security, making sure floors are accessible only to bona fide guests. Concierge staff are trained in recommending safe dining options for single women travelers and suggesting proper attire for excursions and entertainment venues. Associates are also advised on how to provide professional and attentive service that is not  condescending or offensive. This is particularly important to businesswomen traveling alone.

“By the end of the decade, half of the number of business people traveling the world will be successful sophisticated businesswomen who want more than fresh fruits and tea makers in their rooms. Female travelers today demand much more. When they find a hotel that appreciates and caters to their demands, they will stay there and come back again and again. They will also recommend the property to others,” commented Mr. Charles Abbott, General Manager of The St. Regis Shanghai.
