Having
previously announced that flights were to resume today, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited
this morning announced that its flights to Phnom Penh, Cambodia are to remain suspended until 14 February
2003.
Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAIs President, said that THAIs flights to and from
Phnom Penh remain suspended out of concern for passenger safety since the
situation in Phnom Penh is considered unsettled, while relations between
Thailand and Cambodia have not returned to normal.
Although THAIs flight
suspension on the route Bangkok - Phnom Penh v.v. began on 30 January 2003 and has affected
many passengers, the airlines says its decision was made out of concern for passenger and aircraft safety, with flights now planned to resume
on 14 February 2003. THAI will continue to provide regular updated information on the flight operations on this route.
THAIs Town Office in Phnom Penh reopened on 6 February 2003
onwards from 08.00 16.30 hours, to serve THAI passengers in Phnom Penh who wish
to travel to Bangkok. During THAIs suspension of flights to and from Phnom
Penh, passengers may travel on any airline operating this route with airline
ticket endorsement from THAI.
Bangkok
Airways who also suspended flights Bangkok - Phnom Penh v.v. 30 January
resumed their four daily flights without incident since 1 February.
Passengers with a THAI airline ticket wishing to cancel travel arrangements on
the route Bangkok Phnom Penh v.v. may obtain a refund by returning their
ticket to any THAI Office. THAI will waive the fee for refund and reissue of
tickets if passengers wish to travel that route once service resumes. |
