GCC Art exhibition to showcase works of 12 top artists during DSF 2003

The exceptional talents and experience of 12 leading artists from the GCC countries will come to the fore at a special art exhibition to be held during the forthcoming Dubai Shopping Festival designed to highlight the rich Gulf heritage and the development of art in the region.

The GCC Artists Art Exhibition will be held from January 26 to 31 at the Al Bastakia and will be organised through the Emirates Association for Arts.

The exhibition will be organised from the 26th of January to the 31st of January at the Al Bastakiya. The exhibition will have a total of 60 exhibits on different subjects done through different media with each artist presenting five of his top paintings.

Thani Al Suwaidi from Dubai Shopping Festival said, "By hosting this unique art exhibition, DSF wants to give visitors an opportunity to have an insight into the exceptional talents of GCC artists and the tremendous progress made in the field of art in this region and the support and encouragement offered by GCC countries to their nationals to showcase their artistic abilities".

He added:"The exhibition is also being held in recognition of the huge contribution made by these artists to the development of art in this region. Their works of art will remain a beautiful legacy that can inspire young artists in their own countries as well in the region"

The artists include Hamid Kazaal and Mohammed Al Sheikh from Kuwait, Anwar Soni and Mariam Bint Mohammed Abdul Karim from Oman, Ibrahim Abu Asad and Badi Al Sheikh from Bahrain, Abdul Rahman Matawa and Ahmed Sultan from Qatar and Fadi Al Mugharbal and Hamida Al Sinnan from Saudi Arabia.

During the exhibition, a special workshop will be organised by the painters for art teachers from various UAE based institutes.
