Korean Air Records Worlds No.3 in Cargo Volume

For the 2nd consecutive year, Korean Air's cargo operation has been ranked by IATA (International Air Transport Association) as the world's third largest commercial airline cargo enterprise in terms of scheduled international freight ton-kilometers.

Korean Air recorded 5.95 billion FTKs* behind Lufthansa Cargo and Singapore Airlines which recorded 7.2 billion FTKs and 6.8 billion FTKs in 2002 respectively according to IATA.

Korean Air has been consistently placed among the top five commercial airline cargo carriers in terms of FTKs since 1991. Air France ranked fourth carrying 4.9 billion FTKs, Cathay Pacific ranked fifth carrying 4.8 billion FTKs. Korean Air is also ranked worlds 15th largest passenger airline among more than 230 airlines in the world.

Korean Air has been a significant force in air cargo for more than 30 years and the airlines successful cargo operation was highlighted as it was named Air Transport World (ATW) Cargo Airline of the Year for 2003 for its world-class cargo operation and creation of a unique sea & air transport service called KAL-SkyBridge service, tying Korean Air Cargo's Chinese freight flow into the shipping and trucking operation of its parent company, Hanjin, for seamless intermodal worldwide delivery in as little as five days.

*Notes:

A freight ton kilometer, a measure of cargo demand, is one ton of cargo flown one kilometer.

A revenue passenger kilometer, a measure of passenger demand, is one paying passenger flown one kilometer.
