TurboJET Sea Express distributes through Abacus

Travel News Asia 5 November 2003

TurboJET Sea Express recently inaugurated their service operation and jointly implemented their distribution through Abacus.

TurboJET Sea Express, a new brand of Shun Tak - China Travel Ship Management Ltd (ST-CT), began operating its transit ferry service between Hong Kong International Airport and the Pearl River delta region in late September, and selected Abacus as the exclusive distributor for its transit ferry services.

Abacus-connected travel agencies can make reservations and receive instant confirmation on TurboJET Sea Express itineraries directly through the Abacus system. Abacus-connected travel agencies can also arrange for "air-sea" itineraries for its Hong Kong-bound airline passengers who have planned for onward travel to Macau or Shenzhen via ferry from Hong Kong.

Both the passengers' airline and ferry bookings are integrated into a single passenger name record (PNR) to minimise multiple booking procedures. Similarly, a reverse "sea-air" itinerary can be easily arranged for outbound passengers from Macau or Southern China (Guangzhou and Shenzhen) planning to fly out of Hong Kong.

The convenient booking option through the exclusive partnership with Abacus makes booking passages on the high-speed ferry service that connects passengers from Hong Kong to Macau or Shenzhen in half the usual time, more attractive. The TurboJET Sea Express is also specially tailored to provide passengers with easier and more convenient customs clearance and baggage transfer procedures.

"Abacus, with its wide agency distribution channel network, is a natural choice for our regional distribution requirement. Aside from Abacus' expertise and presence in the region, their customer relationship with the airlines will complement our targeted transit traffic via Hong Kong International Airport", said Mr Eric Tam, Manager, E-Commerce Department, Shun Tak - China Travel Ship Management Ltd.

"We are pleased that TurboJET Sea Express selected Abacus for their distribution needs in the region. The ability to fulfil the composite travel requirement, perhaps a first for "fly-ferry" in the region, is a testament of Abacus' commitment to be at the forefront of travel facilitation and customer service in Asia," said Mr Rogelio Sarreal, Vice President and Head of Associate Sales, Abacus International.

TurboJET Sea Express currently distributes passage in Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and is looking at expanding its distribution into other markets within Asia.
