Alliance Airlines boosts Brisbane - Townsville flights by 33%

Alliance Airlines has responded to market demands for more flights on the Brisbane - Townsville route, announcing two additional weekly services, or a 33 per cent increase, from Friday, 22 August.

The airline has also made flying more affordable with midweek fares from just $99 one way, and everyday low fares from just $115 one way, including taxes.

The extra flights on Mondays and Fridays - the peak days for business travel - will take to eight the number of Alliance services from Brisbane to Townsville each week - two each on Monday and Friday, and one each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Most importantly for the business market, the additional Monday and Friday flights will enable travellers on Alliance to make day-return trips to Townsville on the busiest days of the week.

As well, there will be two opportunities for business travellers to get an early start to the working week in Townsville, either by taking the 6.45am flight from Brisbane every Monday morning, or a newly scheduled service at 7.45pm each Sunday.

The Managing Director of Alliance Airlines, Mr Scott McMillan, said the new flights would provide extra seats when they were needed most between Brisbane and Townsville.

"We are adding 400 more seats per week between Brisbane and Townsville - or 200 in each direction," said Mr McMillan.

"All of our flights are operated with quiet and spacious Fokker jets, configured to seat 100 passengers in a single class cabin," he said. "Our 2 x 3 seat layout not only provides the best domestic legroom in Australia, but also gives passengers an 80 per cent chance of a window or an aisle."

Under the new schedule, the Monday services will depart Brisbane at 6.45am, arriving in Townsville at 8.45am, and again at 5.30pm, arriving at 7.30pm.

The Friday services will leave Brisbane at 9.30am, arriving in Townsville at 11.30am, and again at 5.00pm, arriving at 7.00pm.

For returning passengers, Alliance operates a 3.00pm departure from Townsville each Monday, arriving in Brisbane at 5.00pm, a Friday evening flight from Townsville departing at 7.50pm and arriving back in Brisbane at 9.40pmor the choice to stay overnight for a new 8.00am Saturday departure arriving in Brisbane at 9.45am.

The $99 midweek fares and $115 everyday fares are available without pre-booking requirements, but are limited at these prices and some conditions apply.
