Sofitel opens lounge at Siem Reap International Airport

Travel News Asia 4 June 2003

Sofitel Royal Angkor has officially opened the new first-class departure lounge at Siem Reap International Airport, bringing its five-star touch to the gateway to Angkor Wat.

The 250sqm Royal Angkor Lounge is the first airport lounge managed by Sofitel, and will be open to all passengers offering private seating, a full bar and restrooms to its guests. Light meals will be offered for breakfast, lunch, high afternoon tea and dinner.

The lounge is open from 6:30am to 8pm. Travel agents can sell it to clients as a value added extra for US$5, Sofitel Royal Angkor guests can pay a US$6 fee and have it included in travel packages, while walk-in customers will be welcomed for a US$10 fee (rates valid until 30th September 2003).

Sofitel Royal Angkor General Manager, Marc Begassat, said fees were based on research done by the hotel with its travel agency partners.

"The price has been set based on travel agent's suggestions. It adds value for all our guests at Sofitel Royal Angkor and to travel agents looking to put an extra touch in their packages.

"However the lounge is open to all visitors who are looking for extra comfort and a place to relax before departure," Mr Begassat, said.
