EIBTM Awards 2003 to take centre stage in Geneva

Travel News Asia 4 March 2003

EIBTM’s 2003 Awards run in conjunction with seven leading media meetings and incentive publications across Europe, are to be presented on stage at Palexpo, Geneva on Thursday 22 May at 2.00 pm.

Debbie Jackson, Exhibition Director of EIBTM said the decision to hold the presentation at the exhibition halls instead of a dinner had been made because of the current climate. “We recognise that our partners are faced with difficult marketing decisions this year and therefore felt it was  inappropriate to host an Awards dinner. However, we felt it was still important to salute the valuable creative work that the industry is producing.

“The awards were launched to stimulate the pursuit of excellence globally and we have been delighted at the superb quality of many of the entries for this year”, said Ms Jackson.

Ms. Jackson said that since the EIBTM Awards began two years ago, the response in Europe from agencies and other organisations has been “very  positive”.

She emphasised that holding the presentation on stage at Palexpo would allow exhibitors and visitors a more convenient means of recognising the crème de la crème of companies and organisations involved in the global  industry.

The awards are being organised in association with UK industry publication, Conference & Incentive Travel magazine with support from six other European partners: Events, Germany; Voyages & Strategie, France, Convegni Srl, Italy; Spain Travel and Business Magazine;  Business Travel Magazine, Belgium and Konferens Varlden, Scandinavia.

Entries will be judged by international industry experts. This year’s judging is expected to take place in April.

Added Ms. Jackson: “The presentation of the EIBTM Awards will form part of the event’s up-to-the-minute added value programme of activities across all  three days. In conjunction with the industry, we have created the best business support and educational opportunities ever produced for EIBTM with an entertaining and topical choice of seminars, presentations and stage activities."
