Travel News Asia 30 June 2003

China Southern Airlines has announced that it will re-launch its European gateway with service each Tuesday and Friday from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Beijing, China with continuing service to Guangzhou, China, starting Friday, August 1.

China Southern Airlines will operate this Europe/China service using its long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft on a code-share basis with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

"We are very pleased to be returning to our European gateway home of Amsterdam and offer our passengers the most extensive domestic network of any airline in China," said Mr. Wang Changshun, President China Southern Airlines.

Mr. Wang noted that, "China Southern Airlines temporarily suspended service to Amsterdam due to the recent outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)," but added that, "with the World Health Organization's, removal of its recommendation that people should postpone all but essential travel to Beijing, China Southern Airlines can again begin offering its exceptional in-flight services to passengers traveling between China and Europe."
