'Lifestyles' Dubai 2003 dates set for December

Travel News Asia 29 July 2003

Lifestyles, the spectacular social event launched in Dubai in 2002 that combines international bands with fashion and entertainment, is back this year with a pledge of 'more entertainment spread over two action-filled days'.

Created to complement the final leg of the UIM Class 1 Powerboat Racing season which culminates in Dubai in December, Lifestyles adds glamour and excitement to a weekend that sees international power-boating champions mingling with visitors in the social event of the year.

"The original Lifestyles saw more than 8,000 people flock to enjoy the entertainments we had on offer and to watch the power-boating and we expect to dramatically increase that figure this December," said Lucy d'Abo, Project Manager of Streamline Marketing, organizers of the event.

"When we created Lifestyles we knew it would attract racing enthusiasts, but the numbers were unprecedented and therefore this year, we have increased the space and have lined up more music, fashion and events."

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Lifestyles will take place at Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on December 11 & 12 2003.

Focused on stylish and young-at-heart individuals with high disposable incomes for lifestyle and leisure opportunities, the event allows guests to witness and enjoy glamour and luxury, alongside live entertainment, fashion shows, exquisite cuisineand of course, the powerboat racing.

During the 2002 event, a "Lifestyles Festival' saw 'Simple Minds' headline a medley of top acts including Beverley Knight, the Brand New Heavies and the Wonder Stuff. Lifestyles 2003 has said it will provide more acts over the two days with a strategic mix of international and regional bands and artists taking to the  stage. In addition, a great fashion mix will be added to the cat-walk shows and more events will be staged in the grounds of DIMC.

"We are confident that Lifestyles 2003 will once again be the ultimate social occasion allowing people to relax and enjoy the events taking place around them in a fun-filled weekend that is special for all the family," added Lucy d'Abo.
