KLM and China Southern Airlines expand codeshare partnership

Travel News Asia 26 March 2003

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and China Southern Airlines are expanding their current partnership. The new agreement will allow both airlines to offer more services for their customers starting in the summer of 2003 on the routes between the Netherlands and China.

The number of weekly KLM/China Southern codeshare flights between Amsterdam and Beijing will initially increase on March 30, 2003 from six to eight, with the addition of two China Southern operated flights. As of June 17, 2003 two more services, to be flown by KLM, will be added to the route, raising the total number of codeshare flights between Amsterdam and Beijing to ten. Both airlines had already agreed to raise the number of weekly codeshare flights between Amsterdam and Shanghai from three to five in the summer of 2003.

KLM passengers will be able to earn and redeem Flying Dutchman miles on the new codeshare flights, and will also be able to use the China Southern lounges.
