Udaivilas rated amongst top 50 new hotels of the world

Travel News Asia 24 June 2003

Udaivilas, the Oberoi Hotels & Resorts latest luxury resort in Udaipur, was ranked amongst “the 50 coolest new hotels in the world” by Conde’ Nast Traveller, one of United Kingdom’s most prestigious travel publications. Udaivilas is the only resort from India to have been selected in this prestigious category of “Hot List 2003”.

The Conde’ Nast Traveller awards, are ranked as one of the most esteemed accolades in the world of international travel and hospitality. The Award, based on an extensive travel poll conducted with the industry representatives and professionals across the world, takes into account various parameters offered by a hotel. Hotels selected are those that have a singular sense of style and place that sets them apart from the rest.

Udaivilas at Udaipur has been rated by Conde’ Nast Traveller in their “Hot List 2003” category of record breaking 50 hotels of the world. According to Conde’ Nast Traveller, “Udaivilas is a newly built Indian palace hotel in which everything works…..Once you have arrived at the hotel (by boat), you will be reluctant to leave…..open air corridors flanked by 450 hand-carved stone columns, domes covered in gold leaf, hand painted murals, pavilions, arches and fountains.”

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Aravalli ranges and situated on the banks of Lake Pichola, Udaivilas, the Group’s latest luxury resort in Udaipur, has been conceived as a splendid palace, wonderfully recreating the romance of the past and yet completely in keeping with the 21st century. The resort is spread over an expanse of 30 acres, and its carefully planned design has evolved as a seamless assimilation of spaces resembling the old palaces.
