Sawasdee Magazine Wins ASEANTA Awards

Travel News Asia 24 January 2003

Thai Airways International’s inflight magazine, Sawasdee, has won two awards at the 17th annual ASEANTA Awards for Excellence in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The May 2002 issue of the magazine featuring “A Simian Saga,” written by Jason Gagliardi, won the Best Asean Travel Article Award for its portrayal of the town of Lopburi in Central Thailand, while “Back in Time on Two Rails,” a feature story about train travel in Thailand by Morris Dye, won a Merit Award in the same category.

ASEANTA is made up of the Heads of National Tourist Organisation (NTO), airlines and associations of travel agents and hotels in the Asean region that strive to attain the highest standards of service and facilities for travellers and to support and help develop tourism within the Asean region.

The ASEANTA Award for Excellence gives recognition to Asean individuals or organisations that have contributed significantly each year to the development and promotion of Asean tourism.
