Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre
(Suntec Singapore) has been awarded the 2003 Pacific Asia Travel Association
(PATA) Gold Award for Industry (Convention/Exhibition Venue) for its marketing initiative of the Singapore Intelligence
Centre.
Selected from over 310 Gold Award entries by panels of international experts
in each category, the Singapore Intelligence Campaign is an international
marketing campaign on the totally integrated events infrastructure all located within a 15-minute walk of Suntec Singapore
- 5,200 hotel rooms, 300 restaurants, 1,000 retail outlets and a host of arts and entertainment
facilities.
Suntec Singapore's CEO, Mr Warren Buckley said:
"We are very pleased that the continuous marketing efforts of Suntec Singapore with its partners
in the Singapore Intelligence Centre marketing campaign has garnered recognition in the travel industry. With the meetings, incentives, conventions
and exhibitions (MICE) sectors all involved in aiming to create a business
platform within a vibrant tourist attraction, Singapore, as Asia's top Convention City for the 19th consecutive year, and the world's top fifth for
the third year running, is no doubt be a hard-to-resist destination, for both
business and pleasure."
The PATA Awards, which honour the achievement of travel-related
organisations and individuals, had introduced new sub-categories this year
in a bid to attract more entries from industry-related operators such as
Government/Destination (National or State/City); Carrier (Regional, International, Domestic); and Industry (Hotel, Car Rental, Attraction, Tour
Operator/Travel Agent/DMC/PCO, Distribution Network, Convention/Exhibition Venue, and Credit Card Company).
Most recently, Suntec Singapore also bagged the "Superbrand" title
awarded by the Singapore Superbrands Council. This is an industry first for
a convention and exhibition centre to be branded as such. Said Mr Buckley:
"We are most honoured to be the first venue in Asia to be awarded the PATA
acknowledgement for the convention and exhibition industry. This adds yet
another feather to our cap. With the dedication of the team at Suntec Singapore, and the trust and confidence earned from our valued clients, we
