Singapore Tourism Board sponsors New Programme on MTV

Travel News Asia 22 September 2003

Want to know what's hip and happening in Singapore? Catch the premiering episode of MTV Singapore Spin in the end September and early October to get the lowdown on cool places to party, stylish places to hang out and yummy food that makes you drool. MTV Singapore Spin features nine episodes of fun-filled adventures by four MTV VJs as they bring viewers on a discovery trail of the vibrant tropical island.

Sponsored by the Singapore Tourism Board, each one-hour episode will feature MTV VJ Utt (Thailand), VJ Lee Won (Korea), VJ Ramona (India) and VJ Gina (Taiwan) showcasing the best of what the Lion City has to offer, providing you with a glean of what's hot and what's not.

- MTV VJ Utt said, "Watch me as I frolic with sharks at the Underwater Aquarium in Sentosa! I even got to see two bull sharks up close. They were separated from the rest of sea life as they are dangerous, like me!! That experience was just out of this world and worth all the hard work for the whole shoot."

- "My favorite place was The Singapore Zoological Gardens! For the first time in my life, I was in direct contact with a cheetah! I was surrounded by four grown up cubs in a cheetah enclosure, with them running around and playing. I even touched and petted them. In fact, one of the cubs rested its paws on my foot for a few minutes and the feeling was awesome and so exciting. I feel so lucky to share this experience!" said MTV VJ Ramona.

- VJ Lee Won commented, "I personally liked Boat Quay as it was filled with restaurants with food from all over the world. Food is definitely one source that reflects the multi-culture and styles unique to Singapore, making it international and yet special."

STB's Director of Brand Management, Ken Low said: "Singapore is becoming increasingly popular with the young, and the young-at-heart as an exciting destination. With so many events happening, attractions, and activities all packed into one compact island, this program will lend you insight into some of Singapore's best-kept fun and exciting favourite things to do and see. There is certainly so much more in Singapore! MTV's viewership across the many key Asian markets, from India to China, to Korea and Indonesia, also makes MTV Singapore Spin an appropriate platform to share some of Singapore's fun."

Viewers tempted by what Singapore has to offer can join the on-air contest within the show and win themselves an escapade for two to Singapore.
