Skywards Frequent Flyer Programme makes it easier to gain miles

Travel News Asia 22 August 2003

If you are an Emirates Skywards member who can't wait until you accumulate enough Miles for that really special reward you have in mind, this news is for you. Skywards is making it easier for members to cash in on their desired rewards, by letting them acquire additional Skywards Miles.

Members of Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of Emirates and SriLankan Airlines, who haven't earned quite enough Miles for the reward they want, can top up their Miles total, simply by purchasing additional Miles. These can then be used towards any reward of their choice.

Skywards Miles can be bought for just USD 2.5 cents per Mile, the minimum purchase being 2,000 Miles (US $50).

Brian LaBelle, Emirates' Vice President Skywards, said: "Skywards is all about benefits for our regular customers. Buying additional Miles is truly a great benefit for members who don't want to wait for a desired reward, such as a flight, an upgrade, a leisure activity or luxury goods."

For instance, members who want to redeem their Skywards Miles for a return flight from Dubai to London but have only 40,000 Miles, can pay just US $250 for the additional 10,000 Miles. And, members who want to upgrade their class of travel also can purchase the extra Miles.

Skywards Miles can be purchased by contacting any Skywards service centre.
