Qatar Airways celebrates introduction of two additional flights to Colombo

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker arrived in Colombo recently. His visit coincided with the introduction of two additional flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays on the Colombo- Doha sectors. 

Whilst in Sri Lanka Mr. Al-Baker met with the Prime Minister, Senior Cabinet Ministers and aviation officials.

Mr. Al-Baker's visit culminated with a spectacular gala evening which was attended by the Minister of Tourism Hon. Gamini Lokuge, Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, former Minister of  Civil Aviation Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, leading business and travel trade personnel, as well as government and aviation officials.

A traditional Sri Lankan cultural dance performance, music by one of Sri Lanka's leading bands, a sumptuous buffet dinner with a special Arabic corner comprising authentic Middle Eastern delicacies, the cutting of a special celebratory cake and a raffle draw for three tickets on Qatar Airways ended a spectacular evening.

With its first freighter in place, seven new passenger routes this year, a clutch of new wide body passenger aircraft being delivered, and a total of 34 destinations worldwide, Qatar Airways, billed as the world's fastest growing airline, is determined to make its mark in the international aviation world.

Accompanying Mr. Al-Baker was Qatar Airway's GM Commercial Mohamed Fakhri.

With the introduction of these two additional flights, Colombo will be served daily by Qatar Airways. Arriving at 1550 hours, the flights will depart at 1715 hours. Both flights will be operated by Airbus 320 aircraft, which have a capacity of 12 Business and 132 Economy Class seats. These flights will boost connectivity to all Qatar Airways online destinations worldwide.
