Thai Airways International Joins Hands with bmi british midland to Expand Network

Travel News Asia 21 July 2003

Thai Airways International is expanding its routenet in the United Kingdom through a code share system with bmi british midland. With the new link, THAI passengers will be able to fly from Bangkok through to Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Teesside and Dublin. The code share agreement is effective immediately.

According to THAIs Executive Vice President for Commercial, Mr. Tasnai Sudasna na Ayudhya, the code share agreement between THAI and british midland (bmi), a Star Alliance member, will increase travel opportunities and convenience for passengers flying with both airlines. Not only will passengers  have a greater choice of destinations, but they will also experience the convenience of check-through to the final destination, accumulated mileage points on THAI's Royal Orchid Plus and bmi's respective frequent flyer programs, and the privilege of using airport lounges worldwide. The cooperation will also improve flight connectivity and help to enhance tourism for both countries.

In the first phase of the code share agreement, THAI will offer code share flights on bmi from London to seven destinations in the UK, while in the second phase, bmi will be able to offer code share flights on THAI's London-Bangkok route.
