Six Continents Hotels ceases management of Holiday Inn Manila

Travel News Asia 21 January 2003

Six Continents Hotels today announced that with effect from February 28th, 2003, Holiday Inn Manila will cease its association with the globally recognized Holiday Inn brand of hotels. This move reaffirms its absolute commitment to the safety and comfort of guests of its hotel brands, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.

The group has terminated its management contract with Acesite (Phillipine) Hotel Corporation ("Acesite"), the owners of the hotel as a result of the Acesite's failure to address and rectify fire and life safety shortcomings at the hotel in accordance with the standards in place for the group's Holiday Inn hotels.

Richard Hartman, managing director, Six Continents Hotels, Asia Pacific, said, " Whilst we regret the termination of our relationship with Acesite, safety is an over-riding concern on which the group will not compromise in ensuring the safety of our guests and employees across all our hotels in Asia Pacific."

Excluding this property, Six Continents Hotels currently operates 2 properties in Philippines including 1 Holiday Inn in Clark Field and 1 Inter-Continental in Manila. This leading hotel group remains committed to Philippines for development of its hotel brands and will continue to drive value for its existing hotels in the region.
