Travel News Asia 20 October 2003

US Airways and Lufthansa customers now can enjoy the many benefits of the airlines’ codeshare relationship, with codeshare flights now available for purchase.

Through this codeshare, US Airways customers initially will be able to codeshare to six cities, including five new cities in Germany. Lufthansa customers will have codeshare access to 17 destinations, including 14 new cities on the East Coast. Codeshare flights begin on Oct. 26, 2003.

US Airways first will expand its schedules to include codeshare flights on Lufthansa between Frankfurt and Berlin, Boston, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Philadelphia, Nürnberg and Stuttgart, as well as flights between Munich and Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.

Lufthansa will add its code to US Airways flights between Philadelphia and:

-Albany, N.Y.
- Baltimore/Washington International (BWI)
- Elmira, N.Y.
- Greensboro, N.C.
- Hartford, Conn.
- Manchester, N.H.
- Pittsburgh
- Providence, R.I.
- Raleigh/Durham, N.C.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Washington Reagan National

Also on Oct. 26, US Airways and Lufthansa will begin their reciprocal frequent flyer relationship. Members of US Airways Dividend Miles and Miles & More, Lufthansa’s frequent flyer program, will be able to earn miles, elite bonuses and class of service bonuses as well as attain elite status on qualifying, paid flights on either airline worldwide.

Members of each loyalty program will earn actual flight miles or a minimum 500-mile flight credit, as well as a class-of-service bonus for paid travel in First or Business Class. The start date for award reservations and travel is expected to be announced soon.

Additionally, US Airways is offering double Dividend Miles on all paid, qualifying flights on US Airways between the U.S. and Germany, and on Lufthansa flights worldwide. Lufthansa is offering double miles to Miles & More members on the first roundtrip flight on all US Airways flights worldwide. Qualifying travel for both bonuses must be completed between Oct. 26 and Dec. 31, 2003.

Additional customer benefits include reciprocal lounge access. Passengers traveling on Lufthansa in First or Business Class, or Lufthansa Senator members, will be welcomed at US Airways Clubs worldwide. US Airways Envoy Class passengers will have access to Lufthansa Business Lounges worldwide. Eligible passengers will be required to present their same-day Lufthansa or US Airways boarding pass.
