Thai Airways International awards 20,000 free Thailand Tickets in Travel Drive

Thai Airways International is launching a tourism promotion campaign called "Luck is in the Air 20,000 Free Thailand Return Tickets” between 22 June - 30 September, 2003, aiming to attract passengers to spend their holidays in exotic Thai destinations.

During this campaign period, a lucky draw will be held for passengers traveling on international inbound flights to Thailand, as well as outbound flights from Thailand and domestic flights. A total of 20,000 air tickets is to be awarded in order to boost passenger traffic to Thailand.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said that the airline’s campaign was initiated as a recovery plan to encourage increased passenger travel, as the Iraq War ends and the SARS situation continues to improve. THAI’s  campaign is expected to help boost sales and increase travel. In addition THAI will collect customer information from the entry forms filled by passengers, which will be added to the airline’s Customer Relations Management (CRM) system.

THAI’s "Luck is in the Air 20,000 Free Thailand Return Tickets” campaign is the airline's largest ever tourism promotion campaign. A total of 20,000 air tickets will be awarded to lucky winners, the allocation including 16,000  tickets awarded to passengers on international inbound flights. Passengers on international inbound flights will receive entry forms from THAI cabin crew, which cabin crew will collect for the lucky draw conducted during each flight. One lucky winner will be chosen on each international inbound flight to Bangkok, and the prize will be a return ticket on the same route and class of travel that the winner was traveling. Award tickets won on international inbound flights may be used between 1 April – 30 June 2004.

Furthermore, 4,000 tickets will be awarded to passengers on international outbound flights departing from Bangkok and on domestic flights. Entry forms for international outbound and domestic flights will be distributed at the check-in counters, which passengers must complete and drop into entry  form boxes located at the boarding gate. Winners from these flights will be chosen on a weekly basis starting from 3 July 2003 onwards. The prize will be a return ticket in economy class routed between Bangkok and one of 10 domestic destinations on THAI's routenet, namely Phuket, Trang, Krabi, Surat Thani, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, and Ubon Ratchathani and may be used between 1 October - 31 December 2003.

Overview

The campaign "Luck is in the Air 20,000 Free Thailand Return Tickets” is THAI’s largest-ever promotion conducted on a worldwide basis, with a total of 20,000 lucky draw tickets to be awarded during the promotion period 22 June – 30 September 2003.

Objectives

Details

1. A total of 16,000 tickets will be won during a lucky draw conducted on board each international inbound THAI flight to Thailand, with instant winners announced on board. The lucky winners will receive a round-trip ticket on the same route and class as the original flight. Award tickets are valid during 1 April – 30 June 2004.

2. An additional 4,000 tickets will be allocated for a weekly lucky draw conducted in Bangkok for entry forms completed by passengers flying international outbound flights and domestic flights. Lucky winners will receive a round-trip ticket in economy class routed from Bangkok to any of 10 domestic destinations, namely Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani, Trang, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen and Ubol Ratchathani. Award tickets are valid during 1 October – 31 December 2003.

Rules and Procedures

Cabin crew will distribute entry forms to passengers traveling on international inbound flights, which passengers must complete and return to cabin crew during the flight. A lucky winner will be selected during a lucky draw held during the flight. Passengers traveling on international outbound flights and domestic flights will be provided with entry forms at check-in counters, which may be submitted at the boarding gate. Lucky winners will be selected weekly, with names posted on THAI's website at www.thaiairways.com 

Remarks

The lucky draw does not apply to THAI employees and their families.
