Singapore launches G-Max Reverse Bungy Jumping

Travel News Asia 19 November 2003

Singapore launches G-MAX Reverse Bungy, its first extreme, high-adrenaline adventure, today. For Sin $30 per pax, thrill seekers will be propelled upward, reach heights of 60 metres in the air, at a speed of up to 200 km per hour. They will experience up to six G-Forces, similar to that experienced by astronauts during a rocket launch. Located at Clarke Quay, G-MAX Reverse Bungy promises to be a safe and exhilarating experience for those seeking extreme thrill.

Designed specifically for inner city locations, this compact and easily accessible G-MAX adventure is a totally unique experience. Unlike the conventional bungy jumping, the exciting five minutes G-Max Reverse Bungy ride starts at ground level and hurls three people in a specially designed open-air steel reinforced capsule. Approved bungy cords between two 35-metres towers suspend the capsule. The bungy cords are tightened and then released, hurling the riders in a safety-controlled environment. The bungy recoils, ensuring that the riders will experience a safe and smooth ride while feeling the adrenaline of reaching extreme height and speed.

Developed by Frontier Sports, an international adventure activities company based in New Zealand, the G-MAX Reverse Bungy has been in operation for more than seven years. The G-MAX Reverse Bungy is expected to draw more than 30,000 visitors in its first year of operation in Singapore, of which about 40% is expected to come from overseas.

Mr Robert Seabrook, General Manager of Frontier Sports said; "We are attracted to Singapore because of its vibrant local economy as well as its promising inbound tourist market. Singapore's business friendly environment, the prevalence of English as a common spoken language and its developed infrastructure make this a perfect springboard for Frontier Sports' expansion into the rest of Asia."

Mr Gerald Lee, Chief, Business Operations, Singapore Tourism Board said; "We are thrilled that Frontier Sports has chosen Singapore to set up its first G-MAX Reverse Bungy in South East Asia. As a high thrill and entertainment experience, the G-MAX injects a new wave of excitement for our visitors' enjoyment and further enhances Singapore's unique and dynamic tourism landscape. It not only adds to the depth and breadth of the exciting attractions and recreation activities available in Singapore, it also enhances the bustle of Clarke Quay, a popular food and fashion tourist precinct along the iconic Singapore River."

With reverse bungy experiences currently available in China, Indonesia and Taiwan, the addition of G-MAX Reverse Bungy in Singapore will enhance the collective appeal of the region as a fun and exciting tourist destination.

G-MAX Reverse Bungy operates daily from 11:00am to 10:30pm. Tickets are available on site.
