Raddin Sanur Bali Hotel to be rebranded Mercure Resort Sanur

Travel News Asia 19 November 2003

The Raddin Sanur Bali is ready for its most extensive renovation ever, covering all rooms, recreational facilities and public areas, bringing the hotel up to the highest international standards.

A budget of several million US dollars has been allocated for the renovation that begins in early January 2004, and the hotel will be rebranded Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali when it re-opens for business next July.

After renovation the Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali will offer 176 superior and deluxe rooms, plus eight spacious family rooms, each with private terrace or balcony. Bathrooms will be completely redesigned and all furnishings will be replaced to enhance the attractive Balinese influenced design.

The resorts Balinese grass roof will be replaced to maintain its authenticity and charm. Both swimming pools and the childrens pool will be converted to modern overflow type format and deck areas will be replaced. The pool bar and restaurant will be updated and given a new theme to complement the area.

A new design will brighten the Lobby and adjacent Lobby Lounge and an innovative Check-out Lounge will be added. This will cater to guests who check out early but have several hours before departing to the airport. Shower facilities will be available for those wanting to use the pool facilities or fresh up before the flight, with refreshments and light meal served.

A modern fitness centre and spa will be added with open-air massage huts offering traditional Balinese massage and wellness treatments.

The existing ballroom for up to 500 people will receive new soundproofing and a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and will be divisible into two smaller rooms. A dedicated entrance will be added, as will two smaller breakout rooms featuring windows looking out onto the resorts lush tropical gardens.

Accor Director of Operations Indonesia, Gerard Guillouet, said the Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali would be Accors second Mercure hotel on Bali, reinforcing the companys commitment to the recovery of Balis tourism industry.

Balis tourism industry has proved resilient and continues to show signs of recovery, both from its traditional long-haul markets in Europe and with intra-regional Asian travellers.

Accors Mercure brand is already well respected in Europe and Australia, as its network expands around the region it will become more familiar to our growing Asian clientele. Mercure branding and its expanded facilities will appeal to families, honeymooners and individual travellers who enjoy Sanurs quiet surroundings and leisure appeal, he added.

Accor won the management contract for the hotel and four other key properties owned by leading Indonesian hospitality company, PT Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk in April this year. Just 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the hotel is tucked into a peaceful corner of Sanur Beach fronted by a stunning white-sand beach with spectacular ocean views.
