Malaysia Airlines celebrates 30th Anniversary of Japan service

Travel News Asia 17 July 2003

Malaysia Airlines has developed a series of attractive 'Golden-Celebration-Holidays' packages in its Japanese market with the support of Tourism Malaysia, travel agencies and hoteliers.

These packages are part of the several programmes lined up by Malaysia Airlines to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its Malaysia-Japan flight operations and its strong presence in the Japanese market.

The first group of 'Golden-Celebration-Holidays' package passengers on Malaysia Airlines flight MH 89 from Tokyo arrived in Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday. They were greeted and accorded Malaysia Airlines' exclusive "Showtime" hospitality before proceeding to Kuala Lumpur for their 'Celebration' holiday.

Dato' Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan, Malaysia Airlines' Senior General Manager (Sales, Distribution and Marketing) said "the success of our expansion in the Japanese market was made possible through the continued support of the national tourism organizations in Malaysia and Japan, travel and freight agents, Japanese consumers as well as the airport authorities of both countries for the past 30 years".

"Encouraged by this support, we introduced many exclusive services and products for this market. We have Japanese-speaking cabin crew on our Malaysia-Japan flights, complemented with Japanese language audio and video in-flight entertainment programmes. Effective 1 May 2002, Japanese cuisine was introduced on our selected Malaysia-Japan flights and extended later to all our flights from 1 August 2002".

"With the rollover of our new look-and-feel 'Malaysia Airlines Japan' website on the Internet effective 4 September 2002, our customers now have easy access to vital and interactive information on our exclusive products and services offered for the Japanese market", he added.
