Qantas and Visa launch 'Flavours of Australia' in Singapore

Travel News Asia 14 August 2003

Qantas and partner VISA have launched a 'Flavours of Australia' campaign in Singapore with attractive free-and-easy travel packages to Australia from Sin$928. Plus as added incentive to get moving, the first 200 customers who book and pay between August 15 and September 3 will enjoy a second local flavour tour for free.

Catering to a wide variety of different interests and tastes, the campaign showcases not only local cuisines but also highlights the unique attractions of the separate States.

Organised in partnership with five Australian State Tourist Offices and VISA, the campaign offers holiday makers the choice of one of three Australian 'flavours' when booking a basic package to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or Tasmania and one of six 'flavours' for a package to Gold Coast and Cairns.

Qantas and British Airways Regional General Manager, Stephen Thompson, said, "Travellers are now looking for more sophisticated holiday packages and this campaign is perfect in meeting their needs."

"We are proud to be able to offer our customers these unique great value holidays with our partner Visa. This successful partnership continues to give consumers excellent deals.

The different 'Australian local flavours' give our customers the opportunity to sample the diverse yet distinctive aspects, from food culture to eco-tours, which each Australian state has to offer." he said.

Travel packages to Western Australia start from Sin$928, the Gold Coast and Cairns from Sin$1,068, Sydney and Melbourne from Sin$1,088 and Tasmania from Sin$1,288. Each package includes return economy airfares, three nights accommodation, daily breakfast and the choice of one Australian 'flavour'.

For a touch of romance, couples may select: a Melbourne flavour -- dinner in the world's only moving tramcar restaurant; Sydney flavour -- sunset champagne sailing cruise on Sydney Harbour or shopping and dining at The Rocks; or the Gold Coast and Cairns flavour -- dinner on board the luxury yacht "Champagne" as it cruises the breathtaking Gold Coast coastline.

For families planning a trip to Western Australia, the Aussie farm and orchard tour with a Perth-Fremantle cruise is perfect for children. And for those heading to Tasmania, the three-day Tasmania Card is a sensible choice as it offers free admission to over 60 attractions including wildlife parks, museums and historic sites.

Foodies are well catered for: In Melbourne - a two-hour guided tour of Queen Victoria Market; enjoy delicious seafood at Mures Restaurant in Tasmania; and a half day Catch-A-Crab Tour on the Gold Coast.

Those seeking a little adventure and something different should check out Western Australia's Margaret River Eco Day Tour or the Gold Coast's Evening Glow Worm Tour.

Travel is valid on Qantas and its subsidiary, Australian Airlines, and also with airline partner, British Airways. Packages can be booked through select NATAS travel agents and payment must be made with VISA. Terms and conditions apply.
