Travel News Asia 14 October 2003

Clark Hatch, one of Asia's premier fitness companies, opened an impressive fitness facility Saturday in the Mutiara Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by Y.B. Dato' Mohd. Khalid Yunus, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurial Development and President of the Malaysian Amateur Athletics Union.

The new modern facility covers two floors and includes spacious changing facilities, an exclusive cardiovascular training area with cardio entertainment attached to every machine, spinning room, aerobic studio and state-of-the-art gym facilities. The integrated lifestyle club also provides swimming pool, squash court and tennis facilities to provide comprehensive services to all sports enthusiasts.

Centrally located in Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle, Clark Hatch's latest addition is certainly one of its most impressive in Malaysia. The club is equipped with the latest exercise machines purchased from Lifefitness U.S.A. The Center's running machines are also some of the most modern units in the country.

Dato' Yunus said in opening the Center that this was an excellent addition to the fitness and recreation facilities in the Golden Triangle and in one of the city's leading deluxe hotels.

Mr. Hatch, founder and Chairman Emeritus of Clark Hatch International especially flew in to Kuala Lumpur to officiate at the event held on Mutiara Kuala Lumpur's prime fourth-floor location.

In his welcoming speech Mr. Hatch said: "Clark Hatch Fitness Centers are known the world over for offering state-of-the-art facilities in prime locations. Fitness is very much part of most active people's lifestyle and we know that the facilities we are opening today here in the Mutiara Kuala Lumpur are without equal anywhere in Kuala Lumpur, if not the region."

He continued: "Our investment of over RM2.3 million in this project is a very substantial investment and an indication of our belief in fitness in general but more specifically in this center here in the Mutiara Kuala Lumpur."

Also present at the launch was Mutiara Kuala Lumpur General Manager, Mr. Philippe Jaquet who said: "The opening of one of the region's premier fitness centers operated by Clark Hatch in one of the region's premier hotels offers excellent synergy for our guests. The hotel attracts discerning guests who demand the best not only from the hotel but also those operators associated with the hotel. We believe we are offering the best of the best with Clark Hatch."

This is Clark Hatch's ninth club in the Klang Valley and is now officially opened for new membership registration. Attractive membership joining fees are currently available for new members.

While the Center targets a broad membership base, it will limit numbers to ensure maximum benefit for all members especially during peak periods.

"We want to make the club affordable but we also want to control membership numbers to ensure comfort for all members on most occasions," said Mr. Jeff Lum, Country Representative for Clark Hatch Fitness Centers.

Clark Hatch Fitness Center in the Mutiara Kuala Lumpur is certainly a club that can fulfill all fitness needs. Mr. Lum continued: "The same friendly atmosphere found in all Clark Hatch Clubs will be a feature of the club here in the Mutiara Kuala Lumpur."
