KLM to launch scheduled service between Amsterdam and Thessalonica

Travel News Asia 13 February 2003

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is to launch a scheduled service between Amsterdam and the Greek port of Thessalonica effective April 3, 2003. Roundtrip service will be operated using Boeing 737 equipment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight KL1981 will depart from Amsterdam at 10:40 hours on these days, arriving in Thessalonica at 14:40 hours. The return flight (KL1982) will depart at 15:35 hours, arriving at Schiphol at 17:55 hours.

KLM is launching the service to Thessalonica in view of the fact that Transavia intends to focus fully on point-to-point flights in the leisure market. The nonstop service between Amsterdam and Thessalonica ties in well with KLM's flight schedule, as the morning and evening flights offer seamless  connections to all major European cities. Additionally, the morning Thessalonica flight offers connections to most intercontinental services from Schiphol, operated by KLM and partner airlines.
