Marco Polo Hotel Group Appoints Director of Development

Michael Kalyk, President of The Marco Polo Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Mr. Kevin Sun as Director of Development.

The Director of Development will be responsible for identifying new hotel opportunities for The Marco Polo Hotel Group in the Asia Pacific Region with focus on Mainland China. Other development targets include the major gateways and emerging secondary cities throughout the region.

Mr. Sun is a graduate of Cornell University's prestigious School of Hotel Administration. He joins the group with a wealth of hospitality experience in development, sales and hotel operations. Prior to joining The Marco Polo Hotel Group, he was with the Cheung Kong Holdings Ltd, Hyatt International  and Westin Hotels & Resorts.

"In line with the group's aggressive development strategy, we will be seeking opportunities to open additional Marco Polo hotels in the gateway cities and emerging secondary business centers throughout the region. With Kevin's  broad experience in Greater China and with his excellent facility in Chinese language, I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to the Group's Development Plan particularly in the China market." said Jeffrey Flowers, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Development.

Marco Polo Hotel Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Wharf Holdings limited, has a portfolio of eight properties in Asia - The Marco Polo Hongkong  Hotel, The Marco Polo Gateway and The Marco Polo Prince in Hong Kong; The Marco Polo, Xiamen, The Marco Polo, Beijing (Xidan District) and The Marco Polo, Beijing (Olympic Park) (opening 2006) in China; The Marco Polo, Davao in the Philippines and Omni Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
