InterContinental Wellington voted best Hotel in New Zealand

Travel News Asia 11 December 2003

InterContinental Wellington has received yet another major accolade, being voted Best Hotel in New Zealand in the 2003 Best Business Hotels in Asia Awards held in Shanghai last night.

Sponsored by Business Asia Magazine and CNBC Asia/Pacific, the highly coveted awards honour the top business hotels in 14 countries across Asia. Nominees are chosen by a panel of industry experts, and winners are determined by popular vote. In 2003, over 95 hotels were nominated for the awards.

The Best Hotel in New Zealand Award is the second major honour InterContinental Wellington has received in the last few months. Recently, the hotel's fine dining restaurant, Chameleon picked up the 2003 New Zealand Restaurant Of The Year Award for the third consecutive year.

General Manager of InterContinental Wellington, Bill Sheppard said these latest awards highlighted the hotel's dedication to service and customer satisfaction.

"It's the hard work of all the staff at InterContinental Wellington that has made winning these prestigious awards possible. The hotel team's response to anticipating and recognizing our guests' needs is the key to remaining the hotel of choice for business travellers.

"This award is indicative of the attention we pay to service and innovation at InterContinental Wellington. We are committed to continuing this tradition and striving to demonstrate that at InterContinental, We Know What It Takes," Mr Sheppard said.

Part of the international network of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, InterContinental Wellington offers guests unique products and services. These include In An Instant so that guests can have all queries answered at a touch of a button; Global Connections to enable international travellers to keep in touch with their business and home with consistent technology connectivity; Around The Clock service that ensures guests' needs are met, irrespective of the time (24-hour Room Service, Valet Service, Gym/Health Club and Business Centre); and Little Things That Make A Difference such as a Jetlag Recovery Kit or Instant Money, a local currency pack or even the Insider Concierge to help guests discover Wellington conveniently and easily.

"The unique InterContinental services are a key point of difference for us, and one that our guests have come to recognise and appreciate," Mr Shepherd added.
