Bombardier Aviation has unveiled plans to reduce
its workforce as it tries to align with current market
The company will layoff
approximately 2,500 employees, with the majority of these
reductions impacting its manufacturing operations in Canada.
The layoffs will be carried out progressively
Bombardier expects to record a special charge of
approximately $40 million in 2020 for this workforce adjustment and
is expected to provide further information on its market outlook
when it reports its Q2 financial results on 6 August.
Business jet deliveries, industry-wide, are forecast to be down
approximately 30% year-on-year due to the COVID19 pandemic.
