Marriott Signs Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Fukuoka, Japan

Marriott has signed an agreement with one of Japanís most acclaimed property developers, Sekisui House, to open a new Ritz-Carlton hotel in Fukuoka.

The hotel will be developed and owned by Daimyo Project TMK, a consortium of five companies including Sekisui House, the project manager for the hotel.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, which will be the brandís seventh hotel in Japan, is slated to open in Spring 2023.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka will be part of a new, 24-storey tower that will include high-end retail and office space. The tower is set to rise within ďTenjin Big BangĒ, a redevelopment project led by Fukuoka City aimed at creating an attractive urban lifestyle destination within the cityís core commercial and business districts.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka will be located a 15-minute walk from Hakata Station, where the Shinkansen bullet train conveniently links the city with Tokyo and Osaka. Fukuoka International Airport is only six kilometers from downtown Fukuoka, with direct connections to Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and many other cities.

The lobby of The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka will be located on the first floor of the building, with front-of-house facilities, 162 guest rooms and suites occupying the 18th to 24th floors.

The hotel will feature six food and beverage outlets, including all-day dining, specialty restaurants, a boutique patisserie as well as a Bar & Lounge.

An indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a Ritz-Carlton Spa complete the leisure facilities, while a ballroom, two meeting rooms and a chapel for weddings and other celebrations are also available.

In Japan, Marriott Internationalís luxury portfolio currently includes four Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Okinawa, The St. Regis Osaka, and three Luxury Collection hotels, including The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, Suiran Kyoto, and IRAPH SUI, Miyako Okinawa Ė along with eight more luxury projects in the signed pipeline.
