Norwegian Cruise Line - Exclusive Interview
with Felix Chan, Vice President Asia
Exclusive interview with Mr. Felix Chan, Vice
President - Asia, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.
In this interview, filmed in Bangkok on 23
September 2019, Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com asks Felix how
2019 compares to 2018, what the passenger numbers are like this
year, and what targets NCL has for 2020.
We discuss markets, and Felix tells us
which market in Asia is growing the most, which is NCL's largest
market, and how the demographics of cruise passengers are changing.
We also talk about the average length of cruises in the region, what
ships are scheduled to join the fleet and when, and how the new
ships make use of
technology to enhance the cruise experience.
Steven asks Felix about NCL's
new Priority Access system being tested on Norwegian Breakaway and
Norwegian Sky. Priority Access allows passengers who are not
staying in a top suite, and who are not at a high enough level
within NCL's loyalty programme, to pay extra for special
benefits such as priority security, embarkation, disembarkation
and more.
Felix responds to the accusation that large cruise
ships are one of the main contributors to over tourism, and that
when a ship with between 2,000 and 4,300 people docks at a port it
brings little benefit to the destination as many of the passengers
do not spend much money on land.
Felix also lets us know how NCL has
been affected by the increasingly violent demonstrations in Hong
Kong. All this and much, much more in the HD video and podcast
below.
